Thermal Bath Complex
TERME EXCELSIOR
Its transformation from a grand café and a municipal casino to a thermal establishment dates back to 1915 and was designed by the architect Giovannozzi. Built as a large and elegant Art Nouveau salon, a meeting place and cultural events, designed by Bernardini and built between 1905 and 1909, became a building used for all treatments complementary to the hydropinic and open throughout the year. The corrosive action of time and the need for renovation of the plants led to the demolition of the sixteenth-century construction of the Giovannozzi. In 1968 the modern building was developed on 4 floors. Currently only the ground floor is used where the hydropinic treatment takes place during the winter, from November to April, and the first floor where the Wellness Center is located, where beauty, wellness and holistic treatments can be carried out using the precious thermal waters of Montecatini
TERME REDI
Completed in 2010 to replace another demolished by age, the Redi complex has modern equipment distributed in over one hundred therapeutic cabins. On the ground floor there are the ticket office and medical clinics for the acceptance of clients. From the central hall there are several pavilions that contain the specialized departments for the treatment of mud therapy, balneotherapy and massage therapy. On the first floor there is the inhalation treatment department and the specialist medical clinics .; in the basement of the plant (access from Via Marconi 2) there are the Thermal Pool with vascular path, fed by Leopoldina Thermal Water at 33 C., the Department of Physiotherapy and two modern rooms used as a gym for a complete remise en forme.
TERME TETTUCCIO
Considered the symbol of the city and its glorious past, the Tettuccio, in addition to being the oldest establishment of the Baths, is a real concentration of beauty so as to take the name of “Temple of European Thermalism”. The grandeur of the building and the richness of the decorations that characterize the interiors are the maximum expression of the thermal architecture of Montecatini. Known up to 1300 as the Bagno Nuovo, it takes its present name from the small roof that covered the mineral water source. After undergoing several structural changes, in 1919 it assumed the current forms, thanks to the project of the architect Giovannozzi. Of great importance are also the latest achievements: the Living Room (designed by architect Nencini) and the Sala Portoghesi (designed by the homonymous Roman architect).
Of great impact is certainly the characteristic shell placed at the entrance and from which emerges the water that , according to experts, has a high physiological content.
Used for hydropinic therapy, the water Tettuccio is considered “light”, stimulating the purification of the liver. The composition of its saline solution is practically the same of organic liquids and is useful in the cholesterol dysmetabolism.
The Terme Tettuccio are open for hydropinic treatment from May until October.
TERME REGINA
Built in the same period as the Terme Tettuccio, the Regina is a grandiose travertine building, with a large hall now used for concerts, gala dinner, exhibitions, meetings. Nearby, protected by a small round temple is the Regina spring which gives its name to the establishment, whose main entrance is adorned by the Heron and Frog Fountain, symbol of the City of Montecatini.
Thanks to its sumptuousness and functionality, the Regina plant has a representative function.
TERME TAMERICI
The building , located behind the Terme Leopoldine, derives its name from the homonymous trees that are located near the source of water found in 1843. Owned by the Schmitz family, it was purchased in 1897 by the Nuove Terme Company, which in 1909 initiated the renovation project by architect Giulio Bernardini. Of high artistic value, especially for flooring, wall coverings and two large ceramic tiles, is the original Sala della mescita, from Galileo Chini.. The whole building, with its large garden and a circular pavilion, is rich in precious decorations and ceramic tiles, colored and decorated glasses, statuettes and bas-reliefs, as well as characterized by a singular mix of tastes and styles. Currently the Terme Tamerici are used as an art gallery for exhibitions and places of important cultural events.
TERME LEOPOLDINE
Built in 1779 and named in honor of the Grand Duke Peter Leopold I of Habsburg Lorraine, Terme Leopoldine were renovated in 1919 as part of the renovation of the spa buildings. Marbles and stuccos characterize the interior, while the exterior appears characterized by extremely understated architectural details that give the building a certain monumental image.
In the Terme Leopoldine, well known throughout Europe, the thermo-mineral water flows from a crater fountain located in the center of the enchanting inner courtyard. The construction of a modern thermal pool and a state-of-the-art wellness center is currently underway.
